Biplab Bose

Associate Professor, Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering
IIT Guwahati

Biplab Bose received his Ph. D in Biochemistry from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India. Prior to that he had received M. Pharm and B. Pharm degree from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. He joined IIT Guwahati in 2006. He has developed an online course on Dynamical Models in Biology (available through NPTEL and YouTube).

Biplab is interested in understanding design principles in living systems. Notably, he is interested to know the effect of architecture, kinetics and integration of molecular pathways on information transmission, and emergent phenomena. He is also exploring stochasticity in cell biology, particularly cellular heterogeneity in gene expression and molecular processes. His lab at IIT Guwahati uses experimental as well as mathematical tools to explore the questions. His group has also developed a freeware – FlowPy for for flowcytometry data analysis.
